Portofino

Portofino is an upscale Italian restaurant in the quiet center area of Riga. It has a very nice ambiance. It seems to be the place to meet for business lunches for the movers and shakers in Riga.

I had lunch there the other day with a client. The initial service was excellent. I ordered the bruchetta for an appetizer. It was very nice looking and the serving was large enough for 2 to share. Unfortunately it had absolutely no flavor. It looked as though it should taste fabulous so I was probably expecting too much. Then I had the spaghetti bolognese. It was ok but bland. The portion was of good size.

My client and I sat for the next hour or so discussing business but the waiter never came during that time to see if we would like some water or other drinks.

If you are looking for a good restaurant for a business meeting where the ambiance is much more important than the food then I would recommend Portofino.
